Let's Start The Conversation

Having a sole source firestop contractor on site helps mitigate confusion and liability on construction projects. When you have a “make a hole, fill a hole” policy in place, 99% of material installed do not meet UL classified system requirements which leaves vast amounts of room for negligence issues in the future. With Life Safety Systems we offer the ultimate in peace of mind by tracking our work digitally on a system we call our Firestop Tracking System.

Things To Know About Firestopping

Cable Management

In special situations where a UL classified system cannot be found an Engineering Judgement can be found to solve your firestopping needs.

Cabling can be a challenge with fire barriers unless careful attention to detail is taken.

  • What Is Fire Stopping?

A Passive Fire Protection System works to slow the spread of fire and smoke through a building with the use of fire and smoke barriers to compartmentalize and contain the fire to a specific area. Those barriers can be fire rated walls, ceilings, and floors (for example) and they must be maintained to ensure the integrity of the Life Safety Fire Protection System of a building. The fire doors that seal the walls and the fire dampers that enclose the ductwork going through the walls and floors need inspection to ensure they are working properly on a regular basis. The firestopping that seals the unprotected openings and penetrations that go through the barriers all must be maintained as well.

  • Why Is Fire Stopping Needed?

Given the critical importance of maintaining the integrity of a facility’s passive fire protection system it is imperative to work with a firestopping contractor that has the experience of working in large commercial structures and in the passive fire protection industry. Having a sole source firestop contractor on site helps mitigate confusion and liability on construction projects. When you have a “make a hole, fill a hole” policy in place 99% of systems installed are not meeting UL  listed requirements which leaves vast amounts of room for negligence issues in the future.

  • What Are Penetrations?

Any item breaching the plane of a fire wall compromises the integrity of that fire wall. Each penetration can be fixed with a unique firestop approach.

  • What Are Construction Joints?

Construction joints are a vital part of every buildings firestop needs. From Head of wall joints to expansion joints, these are critical safety concerns with very specific firestop requirements.

  • What Are Engineering Judgements

Sometimes you'll come across situations where there is no UL classified system. With the help of Engineers we develop systems to fit virtually every need.

  • What Is Circuitry Protection?

Construction joints are a vital part of every buildings firestop needs. From Head of wall joints to expansion joints, these are critical safety concerns with very specific firestop requirements.

  • What Are Thermal Wraps?

Construction joints are a vital part of every buildings firestop needs. From Head of wall joints to expansion joints, these are critical safety concerns with very specific firestop requirements.
